CEBU CITY, Agosto 30 (PIA)—Kahimsog sa pangisip alang sa ekonomikanhong kalamboan gituki sa mga tigum sa Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) dinhi sa Sugbo.

Ang mga kadagkoan sa Health Working Group (HWG) sa APEC nagkanayon nga isa sa aspeto nga gituki sa mga health ministers mao ang kahimsog sa pangisip.

Kini tungod kay gitan-aw na kini nga kumon og importanteng aspeto sa paglambo sa kinatibuk-ang matang sa ekonomiya  sa mga “member economies”.

Si Secretary Janette Garin sa Department of Health og nangulo sa HW, nagkanayon nga gituki karong adlawa ang mga pagtuon sa mga nasud diin ang mga problema nga kabahin sa kahimsog sa pangisip nakaapektar og dako sa abot og performance sa usa ka kumpanya.

Naglakip na niini ang mga pagbati og stress, anxiety, depression nga kasagaran nga problema makaapektar sa panghuna huna.

Gituohan nga ang mga kompaniya ug ang mga nagdumala wala makaandam o walay kahimanan sa pagtubag sa maong problema.


Si Garin nagkanayon nga nanguna ang Pilipinas sa pagmungtar og usa ka digital hub diin ang mga anaa sa kalungsuran maka kuha og impormasyon kabahin sa pagtratar ug pagtambal sa mga empleyado nga aduna unyay issue kabahin sa kahimsog sa pangisip.

CEBU CITY, August 29 (PIA)— Dili politika ang pagahisgutan sa mga tigum sa Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC).

Gipasabot ni Ambassador Angelina Sta. Catalina, sa National Organizing Committee Conference Management Services (NOC-CMS) nga sukwahi sa uban dili hisgutan ang bisan unsa nga isyu political sa mga membro nga mga ekonomiya sa APEC.

APEC2015- Police underwent communications seminar

The police department is already all up and about in the preparations for the upcoming international event, putting Cebu again the world map.
Police were interviewed no less by Cebu Media during a simulated hostage taking. #mediarelations 

Security Task Force Group  of the Police Regional Office (PRO7) underwent a three day Communication Development Seminar  in  preparation for  the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2015 Summit.


More than 50 officials and commissioned officers from the four provinces of Central Visayas participated in the seminar held at Camp Sergio Osmena.

Police Community Relations Division head PSupt Marciano Batiancila said the training is aimed to enhance the communication skills of the police officers to that they can effectively deal with the participants of the summit.

Tapping the services of the Philippine Information Agency – Cebu , the group were taught essentials on Public Speaking and Media Relations.



PSupt Remigio Sedanto, of PCRG Camp Crame said, the activity is necessary for the policemen considering that the majority of the event is conducted here in Cebu.

“Our PNP must know how to act well in dealing with the delegates, in dealing with the media and all the other sectors,” Sedanto said.

PIA Cebu Infocen Manager Rachelle Nessia, reminds the participants  on certain bodily gestures that shows confidence when one is speaking with delegates and visitors.

In Media Relations, PIA Cebu Information Officer 1 Ferliza Contratista explained to them the nature of media.

“The police and media may have different means but have the same aim which is to serve, a harmonious relationship  is beneficial to the public,” Contratista said. 


There are expected more than a hundred media from Cebu, national and international who will be covering the different events of APEC from August 21 to September 14.

During the workshop, members of the Defense and Police Press Corps (DEPP), were the actual reporters during the simulation exercises.

DEPP are composed of the reporters from the different media organizations in Cebu covering the police beat.

Towards the end, DEPP members gave out tips to the police on how they can co exist and have a “partner” relationship.

“Speak in the dialect if being interviewed by a local reporter and specially if its an emergency scenario,” according to DEPP Vice President Arnold Bustamante of CCTN and DyHP.

On the other hand, King Anthony Perez of TV5 also remind them about telephone etiquette.
“We always understand terms such as ongoing operation, we just want initial details, so just be polite in saying that’s all you have to report for now,” Perez said.

PO3 Janice Tamayo  of Station 3 Cebu City Police Office said, that one of the ways of establishing good relationship with media is to let them understand also how the police works.

“We also learn that we get there respect and trust when we feed them,  with the right information since they are also pressured to report on time,” Tamayo said.

There are expected more than a hundred media from Cebu, national and international who will be covering the different events of APEC from August 21 to September 14.

The Philippines is hosting APEC 2015, a series of over a hundred meetings that culminates in the Leaders’ Summit in Manila this November 18-19. The hosting is in fulfillment of the country’s commitment as a member economy and at the same time raises its stature in the international community.

Hosting APEC 2015 allows the Philippines to showcase its vibrant and dynamic economy and top tourism destinations, widen opportunities for attracting foreign investments, and strengthen trade ties especially with other member economies.

APEC2015 : Information Officers and Media to meet for APEC 101

In order to brew effectively good news, information officers and Cebu media will undergo  Asia Pacific Economic Council “APEC 101” by foreign affairs officials.

On Friday August 7, 2015, government information officers from national and local government agencies will gather at the Capitol Social Hall from 9 am to 2 pm.



They will also be joined by reporters, photographers and editors from Cebu’s quad media.
APEC 2015 Media Operations Committee Substantives Division Head and Philippine Information Agency Deputy Director General Virgilio Galvez will be around to introduce the main speakers.

These include Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Charles Jose, the official APEC Spokesperson who will talk about “APEC History Briefer”.

“APEC Core Issues and Philippine Priorities” will then be discussed by Undersecretary Laura del Rosario from the DFA Office of the Undersecretary for  International  Economic Relations.

Del Rosario is also the chair of the APEC Senior Officials Meeting.

A question and answer portion will then cap the event moderated by Jo Paulo Espiritu from the APEC 2015 Media Operations Committee Media Services.

This vision was translated to the Bogor Goals of 1994 of free trade and open trade and investments in the Asia-Pacific. UPDATE 1 - Phil Navy sends divers to Ormoc City

Philippine Navy in Cebu sent off personnel to Ormoc City capsized motor banca incident.

Lt. James Reyes, spokesperson of the Naval Forces Central  (PN-Navforcen) based here in Cebu City, immediately deployed a vessel to Ormoc City with five divers.

"The divers will be sent to the area where MB Nirvna sank.  But along the way to Ormoc City, they will search the area for anybody who was caught in the current," Reyes said.

MB Nirvana reportedly capsized a few minutes after leaving the port of Ormoc City bound for Pilarr town Camotes Island already under the Province of Cebu.

According to Poro Municipal Councilor Agosto Zurita, who happens to be at the port area, the boat was about to turn and face Pilar when it capsized upside down.

It had listed 173 passengers along with loads involving sacks of rice.

As of press time 38 were recovered dead while 60 were rescued.  They were brought to Ormoc Doctors Hospital and Ormoc Sugarcane Planters Association- Farmers Medical Center (OSPA-FMC).

BREAKING NEWS: Big waves sank motor banca bound for Pilar Camotes from Ormoc City port this noon.

CEBU CITY, July 2 (PIA)— Big waves sank motorbanca bound for Pilar Camotes from Ormoc City this noon carrying 173 passengers.

Agosto Zurita, Muicipal Counilor of Poro, Camotes in an interview with PIA-Cebu said MB Nirvana left the port of Ormoc City at 12:12 noon today bound for Pilar, Camotes Island.

Zurita was in Ormoc for business matters and was just at the port during the incident.

It accordingly was leaving the port with rear first and just as it was about to swerve its front to face Pilar, it eventually pivoted and capsized on its back a hundred meters away.

“Majority of the passengers were adults and there were about 30 who were minors,” Zurita said.
Initial rescuers were the town policemen and firemen, Philippine Coast Guard personnel and some medical team.

As of press time 34  bodies were retrieved and around 60 were rescued.  These were brought to Ormoc Doctors Hospital and Ormoc Sugarcane Planters Association –Farmers Medical Center (OSCA-FMC). 

"Ang pag rescue mano mano lang gyud, di ta makaingon nga hi tech, (The rescuing was only manual and not high tech)," Zurita said.
